Yoga is time-tested over several centuries and its benefits are well documented. Our practices and personal experiences have led us to strongly believe that yoga has solutions to a vast majority of problems on this planet at every level. Some of which are:
Individual level: Yoga helps build a strong constitution with high immunity levels to overcome diseases and promote healthy body image resulting in loosing the fear of aging and make peace with our inevitable mortality.
Society level: Yoga helps bring people together to battle common social problems such as anger issues, severe addictions, loneliness, depressions, bridge the ever growing chasm of gender and racial differences.
National level: Yoga can rescue the struggling healthcare system by moving it from a reactive medicine (seeking help after becoming sick) to a preventative medicine (prevention of sickness by following proper exercise and diet). This will save billions in dollars for the taxpayers.
Global level: Yoga can lay a broad platform for people of all faiths and beliefs to come together for bringing peace and unity to all humanity.
My name is Sri. Everyone has a story on how they came to yoga. Mine was by “accident”. In other words, a shoulder injury sustained in the gym. As a result, I was unable to participate in my favorite activities such as swimming, badminton, hiking, running etc. This event greatly impacted the quality of my life until I came across some sound advice to try yoga.
Yoga helped me recover and get back my full physical fitness in no time and so much more. Now I can do feats that would have seemed impossible earlier. More importantly, yoga helped me find a better state of mind and above all, a wonderful community of like-minded people to grow old with.
I realized that, if yoga can work for me, it can work for anyone irrespective of age, gender or physical disabilities.
This inspired me to go on to complete the 300-hour yoga teacher certification with Ahimsa-Yoga philosophy developed by my guru, J-P Tamblyn-Sabo(Ahimsa-Yoga is a style of yoga dedicated to honoring the ancient traditions, while continually refining the physical practice with a modern understanding of bio-mechanics and physiology).
Our time on this planet is very short and uncertain. For me, yoga is about finding meaning in my life by helping others find theirs.
Yoga sutra 2.35 – “When a person becomes firmly grounded in non-violence (ahimsa), other people who come near will naturally lose any feelings of hostility”.
The greatest threat to our society is not lack of jobs, poverty or climate change. Rather it is, Violence!
In other words, harm perpetuated on a fellow human being by another. Every single day, we see this played out in our cities, neighbourhoods and even in homes. Violence goes beyond all known barriers of ethnicity, religion, nationality, social status, income class etc.
Violence is a cycle starting with Fear, followed by Anger and eventually leading to a violent act. Every one of us will encounter some type of violence in our lives.
Role of Yoga-Point in ending violence:
Our goal is to help tackle violence in a holistic manner with the use of Yoga and various tools associated with it. If we can help calm a person’s mind and provide tools to manage their anger in real time, that’s one less person inclined towards committing violence.
A) Yoga for men is a program specifically designed to help men address their fears, anxieties, addictions, source of anger and depression issues. Our simple tools involve teaching meditation techniques to manage anger, reduce stress and yoga exercises to maintain control over mental and physical faculties.
B) Yoga-Point brings these solutions to the needy via various sources:
We provide seminars & lectures on understanding the roots of anger and tools to address fear.
We work with Not-For-Profit organizations that share similar goals.
We work with religious and faith based organizations to help youth in their communities from becoming radicalized.
We provide tools to law enforcement agencies to help them fight crime in non-violent ways.
We conduct yoga classes in your neighbourhood to help families facing domestic violence issues.
We reach out to schools to engage children and troubled youth in healing via Yoga programs.
We will put you in touch with our sister yoga organizations to help you reach goals faster.
Yogic text:"From anger comes delusion, from delusion loss of memory, from loss of memory ruination of discrimination, from ruination of discrimination the man perishes".
Do your employees suffer from lack of focus, year round sickness, and fatigue in the office?
The above symptoms are a sign of unhealthy employees resulting in increased health insurance costs and reduced job satisfaction all leading to high employee attrition rates.
Would you like to see enhanced mental awareness, team bonding and positive relations with your staff leading to more productivity at work?
Mindful working and living in the moment is the answer!
Yoga is a comprehensive approach to physical and mental health, as well as personal growth. Yoga gives the tools to manage stress and handle work pressures effectively. Yoga-at-work is a rapidly growing solution to combat anger issues and other workplace problems across the nation and the world.
Benefits of office yoga:
1) Healthy employees mean increased workplace satisfaction resulting in long-term employee retention.
2) Financial savings in the form of high office attendance, increased productivity and lower costs of health insurance.
3) Group classes help build a sense of unity, cohesion and healthy relationship within your employees.
4) For people with busy & chaotic lives at home, yoga at office helps give them that space to maintain regular fitness and tranquility for the body.
We help bring the above benefits directly into your workplace and into your employee’s lives. This also helps build your reputation as a company that cares for employees and their well-being.
How does it work?
1) No expensive gym equipment is needed. All you need is few mats and an empty room.
2) We come to your workplace instead of your employees traveling all over the place.
3) We teach yoga without any religious leanings and to fit into the secular expectations of a workplace environment.
The employees of this century spend a vast majority of their days and lives at work. These prolonged periods of time with the computer can put a strain on the neck, shoulder and back muscles which in turn can lead to tension and stiffness.
These cause disturbances in the ecosystem of the body leading to erratic changes in the individuals. Programs like yoga help restore the employees to their natural state of health.
At a certain age, your body resembles a car with a mileage of 250,000Km. Very likely, your dream of participating in Olympics is behind you. But unlike a car, there are no new/leased/rental options available for you. Your body has to last its remaining lifetime expectancy on its own.
In desperation to achieve “fitness”, people try to push their bodies beyond tolerable physical limits and end up with injuries leaving you in worse shape than before.
Everything looks downhill from here unless you do something about it, fast. Being able to self-govern your health and living with dignity becomes your priority.
The solution is: YOGA
Yoga is a gentle yet energizing, challenging yet a very safe form of exercise where a person of any age or physical ability can practice some form of yoga to help restore lost mobility and elevate your body to a higher state of functioning. Yoga can be practiced till the last breath of your life. This is the main reason behind yoga`s popularity and it's yours to benefit from.
As we get older, the muscles tend to stiffen, our joints lose their range of motion and we become more susceptible to chronic problems such as osteoporosis, arthritis and heart disease. Yoga helps slow down the effects of the aging process by maintaining muscle softness and flexibility, keeping the mind alert and awake, encouraging relaxation and strengthening muscles and joints. This, in turn, encourages the body, mind, and spirit to remain healthy and strong while reducing the effects of many age-related issues.
In addition to the physical health benefits, attending yoga classes is a wonderful way of building one’s social network and studies have shown that yoga aids in reducing symptoms of stress, depression, and fatigue.
Yoga for seniors & stiff men:
Yoga classes are generally conducted on the floor on an exercise mat. For individuals with limited mobility, the poses will be adapted to the chair. They are designed for adults who want to improve their physical activity and boost their energy levels.
Yoga for seniors is a very gentle series designed for adults in their 60’s, 70’s and 80’s who want to improve their activity levels and build strength, balance, mobility, and range of motion in their joints and spine. The classes are taught by experienced yoga instructors who know how to accommodate older yoga students.
How do you start?
Our restorative trained yoga teachers are always available to reach out to you at your homes, retirement communities and workspaces to guide you in gentle but active restorative poses.
About Our Classes:
Our yoga teachers are fully certified with a minimum of a 300-hour certification course with a well-recognized yoga teacher training program; they also carry liability insurance and are trained in Emergency First Aid and CPR. They will check with you to see what poses can be done and what can be modified.
We teach yoga without any religious leanings and to fit into the secular expectations of a workplace environment.
